I-Connect is a legislation being promoted by Lt. Governor Pat Quinn to provide approximately
13,000 seventh graders and teachers with personal laptop computers. To ensure that no child is left behind in the advancement
of technology, Pat Quinn and the Illinois State Board of Education created the Technology Immersion Pilot Project. The new
initiative will provide one to one educational technology learning programs to public schools across the state of Illinois.
The General Assembly has appropriated $5 million to launch the Technology Immersion Pilot Project in 9 schools in 7 school
districts for the 2006 to 2007 school year.
Schools will receive:
-Laptop computers for all students and teachers
-Professional development opportunities for teachers
-Technical assistance for school based networks
